Photo of the rear of the Maw House, likely taken sometime in the 1930s. This photo, and the information below, were posted by Andrew Hind, author of Founded on Stone: Tales of Early Parry Sound District. on the Facebook site If You Grew Up in Huntsville You’ll Remember.
The Maw House—at one point the home of a Civil War veteran—was built in Novar somewhere around 1890. In 1977, part of it was moved to Muskoka Heritage Place and rebuilt on-site (the remaining portion was too rotten to make the move).
This photo ( top) depicts the home from the rear, likely taken sometime in the 1930s. The portion below is what made the move to MHP and what today is known as the Maw House.
Hind details the Maw House and the family that resided within it for generations in his book, Founded on Stone: Tales of Early Parry Sound District. Hind credits the historic photo of the Maw House to the courtesy of George Maw.
