Temporary road closures on June 8 for Band on the Run

Watch for the following temporary road closures on Saturday morning, June 8, for the annual Band on the Run road race.

This year the race starts and ends at the Canada Summit Centre, so the swing bridge will remain open all day.

Brunel Road is open to both northbound and southbound traffic between Townline Road and North Mary Lake Road, with single-lane, OPP-controlled traffic flow with a lead vehicle provided by Fowler Construction. (See details below.)

To ensure the runners are safe during the race there will be police-patrolled, full-road closures that may impact your travel in Huntsville from 8:30 a.m. to noon. See the routes posted below. Plan this into your schedule as you will not be able to drive on the restricted roads during race time.

Park Dr (Canada Summit Centre / High School / Heritage Place) will be fully closed from 5am to 1pm.

Parts of the following roads will be fully closed from 8:30am – 12 noon:
West St. S
High St.
Princess St.
Veteran’s Way
Brunel Road (between Main Street and Town Line Road)
Hillcrest Dr.
South Fairy Lake Rd.
Riverside Dr.
Town Line Rd. E.
Forbes Hill Dr.
Camp Kitchen Rd.
Park Dr.

A single lane of Brunel will be closed from 8:30 to 12 noon between Town Line Road and North Mary Lake Road/Lockview Road. Bi-directional traffic will be permitted in the southbound (west side) lane only. OPP will control access at both ends (south end: Brunel at Lockview Rd; north end: Town Line Rd West at Hubbel Crescent). A “follow me” lead vehicle with flaggers at each end will allow traffic to flow Northbound and Southbound in one direction at a time.

North Mary Lake Road will have a quarter lane closure from 8:30 to 11am.
