Young athletes, aged 12 to 15, are taking to the ice at the Don Lough Arena on March 2 and 3 as part of the 2018 Ontario Winter Games hosted by Orillia. Huntsville’s Canada Summit Centre is the host venue for speed skating.
More than 3,000 athletes, coaches, managers and officials from across Ontario are be participating in 25 different sport events for the Games, including alpine skiing, weightlifting, boxing, kickboxing, ringette, figure skating, boys hockey and curling. The majority of the Games will be held in Orillia with some venues in other municipalities hosting events. Speed skating is the only event being hosted in Huntsville.

Huntsville will host the 2019 Ontario 55+ Winter Games next March. The organizing committee is hosting a one-year-out celebration on Wednesday, March 7 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Active Living Centre. Community members are invited to attend to learn more about the Games and the organizing committee, and how to get involved.
