Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 30 to 40 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 5 cm per hour.
Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Timing:
This afternoon into Tuesday afternoon.
Discussion:
Snow squalls are expected to develop off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay beginning this afternoon. Snow squall activity will shift south of the region Tuesday afternoon.
###
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
Recommended Action
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
