Algonquin Theatre seat dedications
Engraved plaques on arm rests in the Algonquin Theatre are the result of an earlier seat dedication program

Seat dedication plaques will soon be available at Huntsville arenas, Algonquin Theatre

If you’re looking for a way to memorialize a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, or support a team, you’ll soon have a unique option.

At the December 19 General Committee meeting, Town staff presented a report recommending that the public have the opportunity to dedicate a seat at three different Town facilities: the Algonquin Theatre, the Don Lough Arena, and the Jack Bionda Arena.

Money received for the dedications will be added to one of two reserve accounts, the Algonquin Theatre Reserve Account for theatre seat dedications or the Sports Memorabilia Reserve Account for Don Lough Arena and Jack Bionda Arena seats.

When it first opened, the Algonquin Theatre had a seat dedication program as part of a capital campaign. The staff report indicated there is public interest for a similar program at the arenas.

The cost to dedicate a seat will be $250 on a first come first serve basis until all seats are dedicated. Currently the Algonquin Theatre has 155 seats available, the Don Lough has 1354 seats available and the Jack Bionda has 443 seats available. At the theatre and the Don Lough, plaques will be placed on the arm of the chairs for the lifespan of the chair. At the Jack Bionda the plaques will be placed on the back of the chair where the number is located, also for the lifespan of the chair.
