Once again, the Rotary Club of North Muskoka is turning perogies into help for charities.
Perogy Fest takes place on September 23 at 6 p.m. at the Active Living Centre located at 20 Park Drive. The evening will include handmade perogies, sausages, beverages, and music featuring classic rock from the Deux Dads.
“We are using the tried and tested recipe from Nick Paroshy’s family, we also make frozen perogies that we sell throughout the year which are always a big hit,” explained Club member Cara Schiedel.
Last year the Club managed to raise $6,000 with a lofty goal of raising $8,000 this year. The proceeds this year will go to support Mind-Aid Muskoka, Enliven Cancer Care, and the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
“Since COVID our club has made a bit of a shift to a mental health focus. Mind-Aid obviously fits this perfectly by directing young people to needed mental health supports, and the Canada-Ukraine Foundation has a Ukraine humanitarian appeal that helps with mental health care for people displaced by the war. This year after hearing a presentation from Enliven, we were happy to add them to our recipients as they offer many programs that support the mental health and well-being of those affected by cancer,” added Schiedel.
Tickets are $35 and available at Community Living Huntsville or ProActive Rehab. Contact [email protected] for more details.
