Robinson’s Independent Grocer to host workshop on mental health in the workplace

Would you know how to recognize and assist your employees or co-workers who are struggling with mental health concerns?

On June 8, Robinson’s Independent Grocer will be sponsoring and hosting Mental Health Works, a workshop presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CAMH), Muskoka –Parry Sound Branch. The workshop will show business leaders and employees how to recognize mental health symptoms and signs and explain what a business can do to assist employees in getting the help they require.

“This workshop would be beneficial for any team lead, supervisor or manager to understand the role of mental health in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and to help recognize signs that their employees are struggling,” says Jackie Vincent from CAMH.

“We are trying to get public education out there because it is so important to talk,” says Vincent. “We are trying to reduce the stigma so that every age group, whether they are employed or not, will talk about mental health.”

The workshop provides a half-day overview of workplace mental health, including some of the more common mental health concerns employees may face like depression, stress and anxiety.

Employees are our greatest asset and anything we can do to support them is not only the right thing to do but just good business sense.

Thank you once again to Robinson’s Independent Grocer. Long acknowledged as an outstanding corporate citizen, this free workshop on their premises will assist in identifying people with mental health disorders. Invisible disabilities are rising exponentially, and finding help for these individuals and removing some of the stigma they face daily, is a huge benefit to the community.
