Adventure and spirits come together at Relish & Whisky with outdoor guru Kevin Callan

Whisky is to Scotland what maple syrup is to Canada, with a little bit of rebel thrown in for good measure. So there’s no better pairing for a whisky tasting than a rousing tale of adventure on Scotland’s Spey River accompanied by delicious Canadian cuisine.

Join Relish and Whisky magazine for an intimate evening showcasing some of your favourite spirits at Huntsville’s Hidden Valley Resort, with more than 30 whiskies from around the world: Aberlour, The Balvenie, Canadian Club, The Glenlivet, Gooderham & Worts, Highland Park, Jim Beam, J.P. Wiser’s, Knob Creek, Lot No40, The Macallan, Maker’s Mark and The Original Kavi Reserve.

Sample whisky, Scotch and cocktails poured by award-winning ambassadors, including Trish Harcus, Frank Biskupek, Matt Jones, Spencer Gooderham, Ray Daniel, Jamie Johnson, Cameron Millar and Jackie Demarco, along with a taste of the outdoors from local craft brewery Lake of Bays Brewing Company, and paired with a fine selection of hors d’oeuvres from Chef Ashley Stenabaugh.

Then settle in with the friendly staff from local outdoor adventure store Algonquin Outfitters and be regaled by author and award-winning filmmaker Kevin Callan as he recounts paddling down Scotland’s Spey River where, between running rapids and camping out below the snow-capped mountains, he stopped now and then for a wee dram of whisky at some of the local distilleries. If you’ve never heard a good tale from Kevin, a regular on CBC radio and a columnist for Explore magazine, you’re in for a treat.

Relish and Whisky Magazine’s Muskoka Tasting will be hosted at Hidden Valley Resort in Huntsville on December 15 from 6-10 p.m. Participants must be 19 years or older. To ensure everyone has a good time, please drink responsibly – excessive consumption or intoxication won’t be tolerated. Room reservations are available at the resort for those who don’t want to arrange for a designated driver.

Only 150 tickets will be sold at just $75 per person. Be bold and get yours now, or risk disappointment. For more information and to order tickets, visit www.qcrelishandwhisky.ca.
