Coming off their win from their last game on Feb 19th against the South Muskoka Bears, the U18C Rep Otters took a defeating loss this past weekend.

The Otters lost five to two to the Parry Sound Shamrocks at this past Sunday’s home game.

Coach Geoff Carleton said in an email, “Parry Sound pushed the pace of the game on Sunday and the players responded with great effort and a will to compete. We weren’t able to convert on our opportunities in the offensive zone and that was realized in the final score.”

Despite the loss, the arena was loud with cheers and cowbells from the audience.

While great effort was put out by all, of the Otters team, Isaiah Nikiforuk (#11) scored a goal in the second period, and Gavin Williams (#15) in the third.

This was their second last home game before potentially moving into the semi-finals for the 2022-2023 hockey season.

Their next home game will be this coming Sunday (March 5th) starting at 7 p.m. Entrance is free and will be hosted at the Huntsville Summit Centre in the Don Lough Arena.

The Otters will be going up against the Shelburne Wolves.

Carleton added that he is confident that his players will be ready for this weekend’s game.

According to Carleton, at the beginning of the season, the team set a goal to compete in a championship, and with every game, the Otters get closer and closer to reaching that goal.

“As the coach, I am excited to see how they have grown this season and worked toward accomplishing their goals,” said Carleton.
