This Sunday (January 26th), the Otters are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at 5:00 p.m. at the Active Living Centre after their 2:30 game against the Orillia Terriers.
All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to The Door, Huntsville, in support of their Renovation Fund to fix their building this Spring. The building has had ongoing flooding issues, which has caused one side of the foundation wall to crumble.
The dinner, hosted by the Huntsville Jr C Otters, is by donation.
The Door, Huntsville, provides a safe space for youth to gather with adult supervision. They offer a free hot lunch program twice per week, which feeds between 100 and 125 youth during the school year.
The Door also hosts the Atomic Youth Program on Thursday nights, which includes a hot meal and snacks and sees 25 to 50 youth attend, as well as a Friday drop-in program, which includes games, a hot meal and snacks for street youth. This program draws anywhere from 25 to 75 youth.
“I’m Listening” is an eight-week program supported by The Door at Huntsville High School, which helps youth learn how to listen, empathize with others, and grow healthy relationships. Other programs include Horse Therapy Leadership Training, an annual 5-day camping trip, life coaching for personal growth for parents & youth, a substance abuse program, Strong Girls (self-defense training), and a Youth Conference.
Dinner will be served on a first come, first served basis.
