According to the Ontario NDP, Jim Ronholm will be running in the February 27 election to represent the NDP in the riding of Parry Sound-Muskoka.
Ronholm is listed as a professor and coordinator at the School of Trades and Technology at Canadore College. He is also a councillor in the Township of Strong.
According to his bio on the Township of Strong website, Ronholm is a first-time councillor.
He grew up in the Almaguin area and attended AHSS before joining the military and earning his Computer Engineering degree at Royal Military College. Ronholm moved to the Township of Strong in 1995 after serving eight years in the military. His wife of 30 years was born and raised in Strong Township and his two children have never lived anywhere else.
Since moving to Strong, Ronholm worked for the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission, earned his M.Sc., and is currently a professor at Canadore College, where he has worked for the last 25 years. He was involved in Almaguin Minor Hockey for many years, volunteering as a trainer, coach, and association executive. He has since traded the hockey stick for the broomstick and enjoys curling in his spare time.
He sits on the Sundridge Strong Fire Department Committee, SSJ Recreation Committee, Almaguin Highlands Health Centre Council, Sundridge & District Medical Centre Committee, and SSJ Restructuring Committee.
