On July 1, as part of the Town of Huntsville’s Canada 150 celebrations, 100 singers will perform in River Mill Park along with Neil Barlow and the Muskoka Concert Band.
This choir, a Canada 150 fringe initiative organized by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts, comprises members of the Huntsville Community Choir, the Almaguin Choral Society, the Rock Choir, the Muskoka Music Men, the Lofts, and the Huntsville Youth Choir, along with previous members of choirs in the area.
The choir will perform in River Mill Park at 9:45 a.m., following the Decades Parade on Main Street, and will be singing four Canadian songs and O Canada. Two of the songs will be conducted by Gloria Kidd, the choral director of the Almaguin Choral Society, and two by Louis Tusz, the choral director of the Huntsville Community Choir.
If there is heavy rain or thunderstorms, all celebrations will take place in the Algonquin Theatre.

May we sing “all of us” even though our government was not able to make the word change official! This is one of those moments in history when we must not wait for politicians. I am so disappointed that we are not able to sing “all of us” officially but I have let myself feel all of the hurt and sorrow and am now ready to persevere. Somehow, by the time my two year old granddaughter Leona is in kindergarten–she will not be wondering if Canada includes her. No more private members bills. We need the whole cabinet to sponsor Bill C-210 and we need some education for our Senate before they have a chance to stall it yet again.
