For 21 years, the Nutty Chocolatier has been putting smiles on the faces of local children every Easter Sunday with its annual egg hunt. This year was no different, with more than 700 people excitedly passing through the gates at Muskoka Heritage Place for the free event today.
Nutty Chocolatier staff and helpers scattered 12,000 chocolate eggs in the pioneer village for kids aged 1 to 10 to find. Hidden within each age area was a special golden egg that could be handed over for a prize from Nutty Chocolatier.
Saturday’s fresh coating of snow provided the perfect contrast for the colourful chocolate eggs, but the Easter Bunny was there to lend a hand just in case the egg hunters didn’t find enough of the sweet treats.
When asked why she continues the event year after year, Nutty Chocolatier owner, Nancy Wenger, said simply, “I love it.” And so do the families who have made it their annual tradition—many stopped to say thanks to Wenger on their way out.
