Muskoka Traditions is a great place for seniors to socialize and enjoy healthy meals.

New ownership at Muskoka Traditions, community invited for a tour and celebration today

If you, or a family member, are thinking of moving to independent living accommodations and you don’t know where to start, a tour of the facilities may be the answer.

Muskoka Traditions was recently acquired by Levante. The company is a Canadian-owned enterprise focused on acquiring, managing, and redeveloping seniors housing in North America. In this region, the company has also recently purchased Rogers Cove Retirement Residence, James Street Place in Bracebridge, and Barclay House in North Bay.

In terms of Muskoka Traditions, which was formerly owned by Chartwell, Geoff McCallum, retirement living consultant with the residence, said nothing has noticeably changed, “except the food might be even better,” he laughed.

“The staff is wonderful, the meals are good and I’m very happy in my room. Very well looked after and I feel safe. Home away from home. Now I say I want to go home when I’m away,” said Marjorie, one of the residents at the independent living residence.

There are a host of activities residents can enjoy. There is also a bus that’ll take them shopping or to appointments.

Muskoka Traditions will be holding an open house today, Saturday, June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. which will feature Muskoka’s very own Belly Ice Cream and the Northern Lights Steel Drum Orchestra. If you can’t make it, don’t sweat it. Staff are celebrating the fact that the residence is once more open to visitors and you can contact them to book a tour any time.

Anyone considering the residence can stay on a short-term basis and see how they like it, explained McCallum. “For whatever reason, over the last two months that’s pretty much how everyone moved in,” he noted.

He said the main reason people want to live at Muskoka Traditions is due to the activities and the ability to socialize with others, the convenience of being served healthy meals and not having to cook and clean up, as well as access to nurses and wellness staff.

Residents are free to come and go as they please. Family and friends can also visit and there is a bus available to take residents to appointments or shopping.

The residence also works with other community health partners.

If you have questions or you can’t make it to the open house, you can give them a call at 705-789-0012.
