New LED stop signs for crossing guards help increase safety in school zones

The Town of Huntsville is very excited to announce the implementation of five new LED Stop signs for crossing guards in our community. The new hand-held signs have flashing white lights that increase the visibility and safety factor for school crossing guards, adults and children crossing our roadways.

Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Andrew Stillar noted, “These signs are very unique in that the stop sign letters light up as the crossing guard elevates the sign, with either a flashing or steady-on function. This is important because they are easy to operate and command the attention of oncoming drivers. Plus they can be seen in all weather conditions.”

On behalf of the Town of Huntsville, Mayor Scott Aitchison would like to thank Lorie Young, business owner of My Hair, for the donation of two of the five LED signs. “This is a wonderful gesture and a great enhancement to safety in our community,” said Mayor Scott Aitchison.

Great idea! I’d like to follow Lorie’s wonderful example and donate one of these if someone in the know can contact me with the details.
