You’ve seen the signs, or maybe it’s your business that has posted them: Hiring! Join our team! We want YOU!
But getting seen—by employers, or by job seekers—can sometimes be challenging when so many others want their attention, too. That’s where YMCA Employment Services comes in.
“We’ve got employers contacting us every day about trying to find employees,” says Anthea Bragagnolo, YMCA Employment Services. “We’re trying to make that connection as easy as possible.”
YMCA staff can ensure both job seekers and employers put their best foot forward, with resume or job posting help and tech support.
For job seekers, “we have one-on-one services that allow us to target your resume to your dream job or the career you want to get into. We can help you set goals and ways to obtain those goals,” says Bragagnolo. “Another great service we offer is interview prep. Most people get a little squeamish when they hear ‘interview’, but we can do a mock interview and give you tips to get those jitters out.”
Employers can get help with job postings to ensure they are attracting the most qualified candidates, and YMCA staff can connect employers with job seekers already in their system to make for a seamless search.
“We are always here to help and answer any questions from both job seekers and employers to make it as easy and as accessible as possible,” says Bragagnolo.
Virtual job fair coming soon!
In partnership with the Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Employment Services is organizing a virtual job fair on March 23 to help connect job seekers with employers who need their skills.
The job fair will be hosted on vfairs.com. “It’s a really cool platform, and super user-friendly,” notes Bragagnolo. “It almost feels like you’re in a real auditorium.”
Employers who want to participate need to register by March 16 here. Already, almost every local employment sector has registered to participate, including hospitality, construction, health care, retail, restaurants, and camps. There are lots of summer jobs available for students, too.
Job seekers can register for the fair for free by filling out a simple form here before March 23. Uploading a resume is recommended as it makes applying for jobs faster, but isn’t a requirement.
Then on fair day, job seekers can approach the virtual booths of employers who interest them, browse job postings, and read about the benefits of working for the company. If it’s a good fit, you can chat with the employer via video or a text box to learn more, and maybe even be interviewed on the spot.
Both YMCA Employment Services and vfairs will have tech support available if needed.
Job seekers who don’t have a reliable internet connection or computer can call YMCA Employment Services ahead of time to book an appointment to use a computer at their office at 60 King William Street.
There are even prizes for job seekers who attend the virtual fair, including gift cards, swag, and a grand prize of a two-night stay at Deerhurst. (Some terms and conditions apply.)
Get ready to find that dream job—or dream employee! For more information or to register, visit huntsvillejobfair.vfairs.com.
