Ontario is the National Field Lacrosse Champion in the U15 and U18 divisions. They defeated British Columbia in both age groups on Sunday thanks in part to efforts from three Huntsville representatives.
Caleb Creasor, and Jason Knox played for the U18 squad while Jason Rudge, who is Huntsville District Minor Lacrosse Association president, was the General Manager and Assistant Coach of the U15 team.
Caleb Creasor recorded a shutout in Ontario’s 17-0 victory over Nova Scotia. He also played in Ontario’s 20-9 win against Saskatchewan and the 28-2 victory against Manitoba. Although the scores were clearly lop-sided, some impressive saves were made.
Creasor attended a goalie camp at an Elite 100 Field Lacrosse camp at Endicott College in Beverly Massachusetts just outside Boston after making the Ontario team to sharpen his skills.
Following the strong finish, Knox was named first mid fielder on the First Nations Tournament All Canada team. The honourary squad was picked from all six provincial entries in the tournament.
The championship final in the U18 division went down to the final minutes where Ontario defeated B.C. 11-8. Ontario established an early 5-1 lead in the first quarter but ran into penalty trouble and B.C. came back to tie the game 7-7 in the third quarter. Ontario scored four more goals in the final period for the win and the National championships. Jason Knox scored once and set up four of the Ontario goals. It was sweet revenge after losing to B.C. in the first game of the tournament 10-6.

The U15 Ontario team downed B.C. 13-9 to win the Canadian Alumni trophy.
Following the game Knox flew back to Toronto so he could be at football practice at St Andrews school in Aurora. He and Creasor both go to high school there and play for the school’s lacrosse team.
Knox made the Ontario Field Lacrosse team at the final tryout in July after he was given the green light by his doctor, just in time, for contact after breaking his collarbone earlier in the season.
Knox hopes that lacrosse will be his ticket to a scholarship in the future in the U.S. He is particularly interested in Duke University and U. of North Carolina. His performance in Winnipeg on the weekend was no doubt noticed by officials from those schools which could be beneficial down the road.
