Nate Silva made a name for himself as a consummate guitarist, songwriter, singer, and entertainer during his tenure at Huntsville’s On the Docks Pub prior to the pandemic.
On June 7, 2024, Nate will return to Huntsville in concert with his trio, showcasing a new album, tour, and triumphant set of songs at Canvas Brewing Company.
“I left Huntsville with a heavy heart to go to Ottawa, which is where I am now, to start a master’s degree, and that was kind of a combination of, a result of, the on and off lockdowns that were happening during that time and the uncertainty of work and the lockdown, losing work and then getting it back and losing it again. And then, I just kind of fed up with that. So, I decided, well, maybe let’s go back to school,” said Nate in conversation with Doppler.
“I started a master of arts in music and culture degree at Carleton University and was given full funding—well, as much as they could give me, which I was very grateful of. Fast-forward two years, and I finished in August 2023, and it was very intense. It was very life-consuming and energy-consuming, and I wouldn’t do it again.”
Known primarily for his virtuoso guitar stylings with the Slyde (2009-2021), an internationally successful recording band, he was much beloved for his exhilarating cover sets at On the Docks Pub, where he displayed his artistry and melodic flourish on acoustic guitar. http://natesilvamusic.com/
Nate is also highly regarded for his extensive studio work as a session player and producer. He has toured with an impressive variety of artists in almost every genre available in today’s music scene, such as Gabrielle Goulet, Cindy Doire, Reuben and the Dark, Tim Piper, and many more.
His powerful, multi-octave singing range, often compared to Geddy Lee and Freddie Mercury, is beyond thrilling. Above all, Nate is a dynamic, exciting presence on stage and engagingly charismatic, considering how thunderous his music can get.
His new album, the Chase, demonstrates all the elements of his career to date, as he describes it. “This project is kind of a throwback to kind of 90s rock. As I’ve always been a fairly eclectic writer and songwriter, for better or worse, there [are]elements of folk rock; there (are) elements of hard rock, kind of bordering on that heavy metal kind of thing that the Slyde used to do, and there [are]elements of kind of 90s game sound too… there are certain tracks that are on this record that kind of hint at this kind of moody and cyclical, continuous music that you often hear in video game music or at least in the 90s, and above all of that, it’s very much pop rock, in my opinion. And so, it’s something that’s more radio-friendly”.
