Once thought of as a novelty for the tech-savvy, home automation has quickly become a cost-efficient and effective way to control all aspects of the modern home.
When it comes to automating everything in your home from lighting and heat to security and audio systems, the premier name is Control4. When it comes to Control4 installation and maintenance, the premier name in Muskoka-Parry Sound is SIFFT Electric.
The Port Carling company recently received Diamond Status as a Control4 dealer and is also recognized as a Pinnacle Dealership of the same integration system.
“It’s an honour for us. There are only five dealerships in Ontario currently recognized with Diamond Status and we’re extremely proud to be one of them,” says Kristof Duval, the manager of the AV team at SIFFT.
Control4 provides users with customizable and unified smart home systems to automate and control devices, including lighting, audio-visual, climate control, intercoms, security systems and more.
“You could think of it as the brain of your home,” says Jon Mitchell, an AV lead hand. “Control4 lets you synch and control so many different aspects of your home from the palm of your hand through a single operating system.”
Dan Yake is a licensed electrician and an AV lead hand with SIFFT. he says he has seen many innovations in home automation over the past decade.
“Using Control4 we can design smart homes from start to finish,” says Yake. “For many of our clients, their second home is here in Muskoka. Now they can open an app and look at security cameras, make sure all the lights are off, even set their cottage to the temperature they’d like as they’re driving up.”
All of the automation can be controlled with a simple tap, a single voice command, or they can even be set up to occur automatically with no interaction at all.
Working with technology that is constantly advancing means the team at SIFFT have to stay up to date on the latest upgrades.
“Control4 has been in business for 20 years and has nearly 6,000 dealers. They offer tons of support and have quality control reps who visit all of their dealers. They want to make sure everything’s installed correctly and that their products are being used to their full capacity,” says Duval.
SIFFT’s AV team has grown steadily over the years, with eight technicians now working out of four trucks across the Muskoka-Parry Sound region.
“We’re seeing more clients and bigger jobs,” says Jon. “We pride ourselves on staying on top of the technology and making sure we’re keeping up with servicing and upgrades for our existing clientele.”
