Local cross-country racers wrapped up their season on Saturday, November 26 at the Canadian National XC Championships in Kingston.
Ten runners from Muskoka Algonquin Runners (MARs) – four men, four women, and two youth – competed in the event which had a total of 1090 participants. The U18 Boys on the MARs team ran 6K, while the adults ran the Masters 8K race which had approximately 200 racers.
Both the MARs Men’s 40-49 team and the Women’s 35-39 team placed second overall in the Masters category.
Each individual ran their own race and set their own pace to cross the finish line. See below for individual times and placements.

Masters 8K Race
Men:
Troy Cox placed 13th overall with a time of 28:21 and placed 5th in his division (Men’s team 45-49)
Jeramie Carbanaro placed 20th overall with a time of 28:43 and placed 9th in his division (Men’s team 45-49)
Mark Sinnige placed 34th overall with a time of 29:33 and placed 7th in his division (Men’s team 40-44)
Tony Marra placed 82nd overall with a time of 32:03 and placed 17th in his division (Men’s team 45-49)
Women:
Mary Unsworth placed 76th with a time of 31:44 and placed third in her division. Mary was the fifth female to cross the finish line in the Masters race!
Jessica Sheppard placed 131st with a time of 36:53 and placed first in her division (Women’s team 30-34)
Darla Coles placed 140th with a time of 37:39 and placed sixth in her division (Women’s team 35-39)
Sharon Bennett placed 141st with a time of 37:45 and placed seventh in her division (Women’s team 35-39)
U18 Boys 6K Race
Cameron Heinz (age 14) placed 139th with a time of 21:13
Jacob Heinz (age 16) placed 211th with a time of 25:10
