MUSAC brings home 26 medals and many personal bests from Regional meet

It was a weekend of personal bests, medals and qualifying times for MUSAC swimmers who took to the pool at the 2016 Huronia Regional Short Course Championships (also known as Regionals) last weekend in Owen Sound.

MUSAC competed against eight other clubs: Trent, Orangeville, Lindsay, Collingwood, Orillia, Barrie, Base Borden, and Port Elgin.

The Club had 40 swimmers qualify to compete in the meet, however only 20 were able to attend primarily due to exam scheduling conflicts. It was a very busy weekend with five preliminary sessions and two nights of finals for the 13 & over swimmers. Remarkably, all eight of the senior swimmers made finals in at least one race. The club took home 26 medals in total!

Along with great results at this meet, there was also much excitement for four swimmers who earned times that advance them to the next level of competition in their age group. Ian Markham, Ben Guerriero, Ethan Thomas, and Emily Boone all qualified for the Ontario Winter Festival (Provincials for swimmers 13 and under). They now join Mark Cox, Allyson Goldring, Catrice Black and Branwyn Shaw who previously qualified. This total of eight swimmers matches the number of competitors that MUSAC sent to this event last year. The Ontario Winter Festival will be held in Markham on February 20 and 21.
