As war rages on in Ukraine and residents, primarily women and children, flee for safety, a local business is hosting a Mother’s Day fundraiser in support of the UNICEF Blue Dot Program which provides food, shelter, and health care to refugees.
“As Mothers Day approaches in this paradise we call Muskoka, we are shocked and saddened on a daily basis by stories and images from the Ukraine. Paradise lost. The plight of mothers fleeing conflict with their children is something we can’t fathom and yet it hits us all and affects us deeply. How can we help?” says Jamie Honderich, owner of Find Your Wild.
On May 8, Find Your Wild will host the Muskoka Mothers for Ukraine fundraiser, with axe-throwing and archery sessions offered in exchange for a donation to UNICEF.
Participants can book an hour of axe-throwing or archery for a suggested $30 donation per person. Donations can be made directly to UNICEF here, after which a time slot can be booked with Find Your Wild by calling 705-380-4479. Your donation receipt is your ticket. Up to eight people can be accommodated per session.
“Although the event will take place on only one day, we encourage you to spread the word long after Mother’s Day to keep the funds rolling in to support the UNICEF Blue Dot Program,” says Honderich. “Everybody can do something.”
