Maplelicious Downtown Huntsville—the Muskoka Maple Festival returns on Saturday April 21st!
Across Muskoka, crisp, cool nights are followed by days filled with warm sunshine—it’s the perfect time to get outside after a cold winter. And even better, this beautiful time of year creates the ideal conditions for making maple syrup. The Muskoka Maple Trail is in full swing and it’s time to make plans to windup the season in style. On Saturday, April 21, head to historic downtown Huntsville for the sweetest event of the year—the Muskoka Maple Festival!
The Muskoka Maple Festival is a free, family-friendly event full of fun and activities, vendors and displays, live music, street performers and, of course, so much delicious food!
Are you ready to be hungry? On Saturday April 21 you can visit the Muskoka Maple Market and sample incredible dishes from many local Muskoka businesses. How do Charbroiled Pork Back Ribs with Maple Molasses BBQ Sauce sound? How about Maple Infused Smoked Brisket Sandwiches or Maple Bourbon Pulled Pork Sliders? Looking for something on the sweet side? You can also try many different flavours of Butter Tarts, Maple & Bacon Brownies, Maple Cookies, Maple Walnut Butter Tart Sundaes and so much more!
After enjoying all that food, you may be thinking you need a nice refreshing drink. Good thing you can head to the Maple Festival’s Beer Garden to experience yet another unique maple-inspired creation.
Muskoka’s four craft breweries, Clear Lake Brewing Co., Lake of Bays Brewing Co., Muskoka Brewery and Sawdust City Brewing Co. have collaborated to create a beer to celebrate the season. The result is Pancake Breakfast Specialty Maple Ale, made with fresh maple sap and syrup from Maple Bluff Farm and Sweetwater Maple Syrup Supplies & Sugarbush. This limited-batch brew is a toasted golden-brown ale that is inspired by a perfectly flipped pancake. With a doughy malt centre, aromas of cinnamon and vanilla lead the way while the maple syrup provides a rich body and lingering sweet finish.
Are you looking for more than just food? The Muskoka Maple Festival also offers up a day full of entertainment! Stop by to enjoy live music, Lukas Stark the Magician, Tim Burr the Circus Lumberjack, The FireGuy Show, Jack Pine the 9’ Lumberjack, Face Painting, a Drumming Circle and more!
New this year, the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville will be hosting the first annual Sap Run for Kids—the perfect way for the kids to burn some energy and bolster their appetite! For just $20, kids aged 3-13 years old can enjoy the Fun Run in both 500m and 1km distances. Registration also includes a free Pancake Breakfast, a Sap Run t-shirt, and a finisher’s medal!
