MBRP Major Midget Otters

MBRP Major Midgets play with heart and determination all the way to the semifinals

The MBRP Major Midgets Otters are the only Huntsville hockey team left in the fight to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) finals. Their journey through the OMHA quarterfinals had the team play against the Collingwood Blackhawks from February 11 through to February 18. The games were close in score and intense with penalties earned – the team could not afford to lose any more players as two were suspended earlier in the season. Cam Aben and Colin Jones were called up from the Midget AE team to support the Major team and have both done very well by adding goals to the score board.

The Otters first travelled to Collingwood where they lost 1-3 to the Hawks. That early defeat would not get them down – they knew what had to be done, they knew what they could do and they went out and did it. The Otters tied the series up in their second game here at home in the Don Lough with a 2-1 win on February 14. After that taste of success, they secured a 4-1 win in Collingwood in game three. On February 18, the Otters players were determined to end the series with a win at home. The night was filled with great cheers from the stands which pumped up the boys on the ice, Great saves and awesome passes led to a four-goal lead and an Otters win at 6-2.

The MBRP Otters move on to the OMHA semifinals against the Prince Edward County Kings in Wellington, starting February 25. The first home game will be on Friday, March 3 in the Don Lough Arena. Come on out and cheer your Otters on all the way to the finals. Good luck, team!
