The MBRP Major Midgets had their regular season home opener on Friday, October 9 against the Parry Sound Shamrocks. The Otters managed to score early in the first period but the Shamrocks battled back scoring two goals before the period would end. The Shamrocks added two more goals in the second period to push the score to 4-1. The Otters, despite having two power play opportunities in the third period, were unable to convert for another goal.
The Major Midget Otters faced Parry Sound again on Sunday, October 11. The Otters were a little more hungry this time, and once again opened the scoring in the first period. Early in the third a bad rebound found its way to the back of the Otters net to tie the game 1-1. Parry Sound would score again midway through the frame to go up 2-1, and looked to be on the verge of handing the Otters their second straight loss. With less than a minute to play, Huntsville pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and evened the score, ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
The MBRP Major Midget will have three games this coming weekend. Game one will be in Bracebridge on Friday night, game two will be in Midland while the third contest will be back home on Sunday, October 18 at 5:10 pm at the Don Lough arena.
