MAHC announces temporary changes to surgical services at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital

Due to an issue with the chiller system serving the CT and Operating Room areas at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, surgical services have been temporarily moved to the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.

Patients with elective surgeries that have been affected have been contacted directly and will be rescheduled.

The Emergency Department at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital remains open and continues to provide emergency care. However, patients requiring emergency surgery that cannot be safely provided on site during this temporary disruption may be transferred to the Huntsville site or another regional hospital to receive the care they need as quickly as possible.

We anticipate Operating Room services at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital to resume as early as next week, pending system repairs, testing, and confirmation that conditions are safe for surgical care.

We sincerely appreciate the patience, understanding, and support of our patients and community as our teams work to restore normal operations.
