Looking for a local escape? Solve a mystery at Zig Zag Escape Rooms

If you’re looking for a local escape, you’ll find it at the ZigZag Escape Rooms at Deerhurst Resort when they reopen this Saturday, August 1.

Leslie Hutcheson, the new director of opportunity for Zig Zag, is excited to have even more people try their hand at an escape cabin.

“The escape cabins are a series of puzzles and challenges for families and groups of people to work together in order to solve a mystery,” says Hutcheson. “You’ll get a chance to work together as a team to solve a unique puzzle. It’s great family fun.”

The site has two different cabins, each with their own unique mystery to solve. In the first cabin, your goal is to find the lost deed hidden by an eccentric and reclusive prospector, and in turn discover the location of his gold. The second cabin was inspired by the mysterious death of Tom Thomson in Algonquin Park.

A third escape cabin is under construction and will make its way to Deerhurst soon.

“It became evident to me that there are many businesses here that the locals aren’t even aware of,” said Hutcheson, who is new to the area. “We want to embrace the locals and encourage them to come see us because it’s a very unique and fun attraction.”

Normally, the cabins are intended for groups of up to 10, working together to solve the mystery. Due to COVID, ZigZag is encouraging smaller groups of five to six.

“If you come in smaller groups, it will extend your critical thinking even further,” said Hutcheson. “It’s the perfect activity for birthday parties, bachelor or bachelorette parties, et cetera.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, bookings will be limited to eight per day in order to allow for full cleanings between games.

Starting this Saturday, August 1, the cabins will be open from 12-8 p.m., daily, year-round. Book online at zigzagescaperooms.ca. When you book online during the month of August, use the code “doppler” to receive a 20 per cent discount.

Hutcheson adds that ZigZag is still recruiting staff—anyone interested in working in a fun and unique environment can contact her at 705-380-5051.

If they want a real mystery to solve just send the client to a zoning and planning meeting or two, the rest is automatic and you’ve already paid for it!
Oh, sorry to mislead, if you actually want anything to happen you’ll need to pay again too.
Results are not guaranteed but the winner may do well in the future.
