The Huntsville Junior C Hawks lacrosse team has high hopes for the 2018 season.
The team has been in practice seven times already and the coaches are excited about what the players have brought to the floor. “We are very impressed with the attitudes and commitment we have from our players,” said Coach Karl Carnduff.
The Hawks’ full slate of 23 players comprises six matured players in their final year of Junior lacrosse, 12 players with a couple of years of experience under their shoes, and just five first-year players. “There should be no excuses for not being prepared to give 110 per cent,” said Carnduff.
With a fresh season ahead, the Junior C Hawks want to be the Team to Beat. Their goal is to go as far as they can. “We will have a fast-paced transition offense, but our defense and goal-tending will be what we rely on to reach that goal,” said Carnduff. “One team in our division does not make the playoffs, and we don’t plan on being that team. We want to go as far as we can, and I believe we have enough heart and drive to do that.”
The Hawks’ bench staff includes co-coaches Karl Carnduff, Caleb Mckay, Kyle McFadden and James Allen. Pete Arnott, Gus McLaughlin and Tim Horton are the training staff. The organization’s president this season is Melanie Carnduff, Debbie Reynolds is the Treasurer, Lesley Reynolds is Secretary, and Wayne Clarke and Pete Arnott are the Directors.
The Junior C Hawks home opener is on Saturday, April 28, welcoming the Clarington Shamrox to the Jack Bionda at 8:00 p.m. #PacktheJack
