It’s Wayback Wednesday: The origins of event tourism in Huntsville?

Welcome to Wayback Wednesday sponsored by Cavalcade Color Lab! Every week, we’ll be sharing a vintage photo and asking our readers to chime in with anything you can recall about the photo, other related memories, or even a funny caption.

Given the focus this week on event tourism in Huntsville we thought this photo was timely. Any ideas when this was taken and what the event is? Was the event sponsored by the Chamber?

Looks like the now Louis II restaurant across from City Hall …circa 60″s 70″s

I agree that this photo was taken at the winter carnival probably in the late 60’s. I think that is “Skokie” on the banner above the Main Street.

I don’t recall this particular winter carnival, but it looks like it might be circa 1967. I had my first summer job at 15 and I saved my money to buy a 5 yr. old 1967 (68?) skidoo Olympic “one lunger” with a decompression knob. It was extremely hard to start without it.! I was so proud of it! Ahhh the good ole days !!
