This week, we couldn’t agree more with this banner that went up in 1984. It’s still true today. And check out the price of gas!

Dave Johns correctly identified the location as Wardell’s Highway #11 store on Bullen’s Flats about 7 miles south of town. “It never went over very well,” he says, “and soon became a restaurant with a gas station selling Fina gas.”

Thanks, Dave!

This view of Main st. in the west end of town was where the Archway structure once greeted everyone. Sadly a truck hit it and it was torn down and removed and never replaced. There was a great fish & chip restaurant on the right and now Shirtliff’s tire garage is on the left. Year, could be 1980.
