It’s Wayback Wednesday, sponsored by Pharmasave Huntsville!
This is Winnifred Lowe, librarian at Huntsville Public Library from 1943-1963. She was long associated with the Huntsville Library when it was located over Boyd’s store on Main Street East (above where Pizza Pizza is today). During her time as librarian the library became a free public library (1954) and later moved to what had been the council chambers in the municipal building (1959). Mrs. Lowe gave me my first job!
One month of replacing books to proper shelves, after school hours, my wages went from 25 cents to 35 cents per hour!!
She was a wonderful teacher and kind boss. Books are still a favorite hobby because of her!
My grandmother never looked better. I will save this one.
Thanks for sharing.
