It’s Wayback Wednesday, sponsored by Jamie Lockwood, broker/owner of Sutton Group Muskoka Realty!

From Muskoka Digital Archives: A Committee was struck in 1947 to plan for the hospital which was located where Fairvern Nursing Home sits today. It opened its doors in 1949 with 26 beds. In 1955 a chronic wing was added and in 1963 a brick addition. In 1967 the hospital took over the private ambulance service and in 1969 a third floor was added. In 1977 a new hospital was built on Muskoka Road 3 and this hospital became the Fairvern Nursing Home. For more information see Fifty Years in Huntsville, by Jack Laycock, c1966, and Huntsville With Spirit and Resolve, by Susan Pryke, c2000.
