It’s Wayback Wednesday, sponsored by Jamie Lockwood, broker/owner of Sutton Group Muskoka Realty!

From Muskoka Digital Archives: This is a view of the village of Huntsville, looking east, in 1886, the year the railway arrived. The white building on the right is Jacob’s Hotel, later the Dominion Hotel, and then the Empire Hotel, located at the corner of Main and Centre Streets.
There appears to be a church on the left. What else do you see in this photo?

I see a ton (or much more) of manual and animal labour to eventually move those boulders, stumps and roots! Great photo with much information and sense of roughness. I’m glad these exist and that they are sponsored and published.
Wow! This is a great photo of Huntsville from 130 years ago. Just think of it as you walk over the new downtown. What a terrific visual reference to our past. Thank you for this.
