It’s okay to be a little nosey at the Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary Autumn House Tour

Admit it. Sometimes you drive by a house and think, ‘I’d love to see the inside of that house.’ Well, here is your chance. The Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary invites you to take in their Autumn House Tour, held this year on Saturday, September 22 from 10 am to 4 pm. Six very gracious homeowners have agreed to open their lovely homes for this fundraiser.

On the tour you will visit six inviting homes including The Hon.Tony Clement and his wife Lynn Golding’s spectacular modern, open-concept home with five bedrooms, a floating staircase, and a walnut cased library/office overlooking the falls. (Shown in the feature photo above.)

The Rose family’s beautifully appointed home is full of country elegance and surrounded by lush, full gardens; landscape created and designed by their company’s team at Rockscape Design.

The Alexander’s home is tastefully designed by Roberta Alexander — featuring a large family kitchen with the original brick fireplace painted, adding texture to the all-white interior. Lovely decks overlook Hunters Bay. Their previous home, the Hart House, was featured in 1997’s Christmas House Tour.

Auxiliary members will serve a delicious lunch at a new venue for the Tour — The Port Sydney Community Hall. When purchasing your ticket please note the time of your sitting, that being either 11:30 or 1 pm.. Take a few minutes to check out some crafts and items from the Branches Gift Shop and their second quilt to be raffled November 14.

UPDATE 9/15 Tickets for the House Tour and Lunch are sold out. Tickets for the tour only are still available for $20 at Branches Hospital Gift Shop, Castle Antiques, 30 Main Street East, The Red Door, Port Sydney, and if you live out of town, from The Algonquin Theatre 705-789-4975. Drive the Tour in any order. No children under 14 please. For further information please call Joanne 705-635-3355 or Jeanne at 705-789-4955.

Come out for an enjoyable day touring magnificent homes, viewing the beautiful autumn colours, partaking of scrumptious food and having fun.

A special thank you from The Hospital Auxiliary to the Home Owners who have made this fundraiser possible.

Proceeds from Auxiliary fundraisers and donations go to purchase essential equipment and services for patient care. Recent purchases are state of the art beds, wheelchairs, a freezer for the lab, an ice water machine for the lobby area, bili blankets for newborns, a Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy machine for the Operating Room and a chesterfield to the Chapel.

The Auxiliary House Tours began in the early nineties and it is noteworthy that several of our members have been very involved with the organization since that time. Ann Hutley and Joan McCaw have passed the forty-six year mark, Diane Litchfield –41 years and Nancy Waxl almost 35 years. Health issues have slowed Shirley and Ken Farnsworth down this past year but Ken is planning to look after the direction signs as he has for years.

  1. Such a great organization and I am sorry that I will miss this year’s tour. Always a highlight! And, I love all of the great decorating ideas I get. So inspired, by the homes, the Auxiliary’s good work and of course the wonderful volunteers!
