Huntsville resident charged after two-day shoplifting spree

On June 21, 2017 at approximately 1:46 pm members of the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shoplift complaint at a business in Downtown Huntsville.

During the investigation it was revealed that a male matching the description provided by the complainant had attended other stores in the downtown area and was responsible for a two day shoplifting spree.

Extensive patrols of Huntsville’s downtown core resulted in the suspect being located approximately 1 hour after the complaint was received.

Stolen property from several stores was recovered and returned.

35 year old Huntsville resident Ryian Chevrette has been charged with numerous criminal code offences including:

  • Theft under $5000 X 4
  • Possession of Property Obtained by crime X 4
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X 8
  • Possession of Schedule 1 Substance X1

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Friday June 23, 2017 to answer to his charges.
