How-to

Huntsville Public Library looking for businesses and groups to teach people how-to in 10 minutes or less

Love to learn new things, but never seem to have the time? The How-To-in-10 Festival is intended to make learning new and interesting skills fun, easy, free and convenient!

The Library will be hosting the first ever How-To-in-10 Festival on Saturday, October 21 from 12-3 p.m. and is looking for local businesses and organizations to participate as vendors.

Vendors will help people to learn a new skill in 10 minutes or less. What that skill is could be just about anything, says Cortney LeGros, HPL’s Coordinator, Outreach, Programs & Partnerships, it just needs to be hands-on. For example, businesses could demonstrate how a product works and let attendees give it a try themselves; food-related businesses could teach people how to make a healthy snack or decorate a cupcake; a sports organization could show visitors how to complete a basic move. If you’re not sure what your business could showcase, LeGros says to call her and she’ll help.

In exchange for sharing a skill, vendors will get a free exhibit space where they can promote their business or group, hand out coupons, samples or sign people up for newsletters, and showcase what they do to participants.

Vendor application forms can be found at huntsvillelibrary.ca and can be submitted anytime before September 18. Successful applicants will be announced on September 25.
