On July 8, 2018 at around 11:00 a.m., Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic control on Brunel Road in the town of Huntsville during the 70.3 Ironman competition. Officers noticed a cube-style van northbound in the same direction as the cyclists that were involved in the race enter the left shoulder causing (a cyclist) to catapult into the air and eventually landed on the hard gravel shoulder.
Investigation determined that the cube van forced the cyclist off the road causing him to crash, then left the scene. The medical support team for the event was in the area at the time of the crash and tended to him immediately. He was transported to local area hospital where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries and released.
A 47-year-old Huntsville woman has been identified and faces a Highway Traffic Act charge of Fail to Share Roadway.
Huntsville OPP would like to thank the public’s assistance in locating the driver of this cube van.

If you are driving a motorized vehicle then you are responsible for driving it safely. If there is a race going on then you should slow down and pay extra attention. There is no excuse.
My sympathy is not for the hit-and-run driver, but rather for the unfortunate victim of her crime.
I hope this lady is found innocent of this. I don’t know if you realize how busy Brunel road can be , but in her circumstance she was probably concentrating on the bicycles in front of her thinking she had fully cleared the bicycle she had just passed, never mind the road cones you need to concentrate on. I don’t know this lady but I bet she feels bad about the situation.
