Huntsville man attacked in home with baseball bat, BB gun

A man who took part in a vicious assault was sentenced for his crimes in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.

Matthew-Bray Maude-Duncan, 23, of Huntsville was sentenced on several charges including break and enter, and assault with a weapon.

On October 17, 2022, Huntsville OPP responded to a disturbance call at a residence located on King William Street in Huntsville.

Court heard that Maude-Duncan and Kyle Spence, who had previously pled guilty to his part in the incident, showed up at the victim’s house. The victim met them at the front door. The men then asked to come upstairs, but the victim refused, and a scuffle ensued.

During the assault, Maude-Duncan shot the victim with a BB handgun, while Spence hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat.

Court heard both of the accused had criminal records at the time of the assault.

Maude-Duncan was sentenced to 90 days in jail to be served intermittently, six months of house arrest, and six months under curfew.

Both men were ordered to pay $920 each in restitution for the damage they did to the building during the break-and-enter.

Existing criminal record now with more additions ! 90 days intermittently . Now that is really protecting Society from these young career felons . Perhaps 2 years less a day incarcerated would give some relief to the population . Get that new , massive prison built Dougie to house these ” convicted ” gangsters ” !

I agree, when are we going to make the penalty fit the crime.
It is happening over and over, repeat criminals.

    Have our courts gone crazy?
This is insane, assault, shooting someone (even if it was a BB gun) B&E, property damage!
What the heck is going on?
