On September 26, 2016 the new Berg ice plant package arrived at the Huntsville Curling Club to completely replace the Club’s aging ice plant. The Huntsville Curling Club is anxiously waiting for Berg Chilling Systems Inc. to start up the new equipment at the end of this month. This complete replacement of the old plant was made possible by the generous Ontario Trillium Foundation grant for this purpose. Over the past decades, the Huntsville Curling Club has managed to keep the ice plant going but last season the chiller broke down forcing the Club to seriously consider replacing the complete aging ice plant rather than a band-aid approach to repair one item at a time.

The Club members went through a difficult season last year and look forward to state-of-the-art ice plant equipment to keep the Club open for years to come. From on top of the roof the condenser was replaced, and in the plant the chiller, compressor, pumps, wiring, control panel, headers and attaching pipes were replaced. This is a major improvement for our Club which operates seven days a week providing recreational and competitive curling for ages 9 – 90 for the Huntsville community and surrounding areas.
