Huntsville competitors shine at karate tournament in Sudbury

Dokan Karate announced on social media that they were pleased and humbled this past weekend at the Canadian Budoka Championship Karate Tournament in Sudbury, Ontario.

The tournament hosted 26 martial arts clubs (approx. 180 competitors) of various styles, including Kung Fu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and others. Six competitors from Dokan Karate took part in individual Forms and Weapons competitions, teamed up to perform Self-Defense routines, and competed in the Black belt-level Team Demonstration.

Here are the results:

Olivia Turney placed 3rd in the Advanced Weapons.

Haley Turney placed 2nd in both Advanced Forms and Weapons.

Kayla Tinkler placed 2nd in the Novice (adult) individual Weapons.

Jennifer Turney placed 3rd in both the Black Belt Weapon and Self-Defense competitions.

Carson Turney competed alongside Jennifer Turney & Olivia Turney in the Black Belt Team Demonstration where the trio earned 2nd place.

Lucien Jongers placed 1st in the Black Belt Forms, Weapons, and Self-Defense competitions, securing the title of Ginzo Division Grand Champion for the tournament.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and for demonstrating just some of the talent currently practicing at Dokan Karate in Huntsville.
