Hoya Robotics team to compete in Barrie this weekend

After winning the provincial championship last year, Hoya Robotics is charged up to compete in Barrie this weekend. The First Robotics Competition ( firstinspires.org ) is an international competition. High school students were given a game and they had six weeks to design and build a robot from scratch.

This year’s game is called Charged Up. A video explaining the game is found below:

The competition at Georgian College is free to attend. There is also a live stream video of the matches, which you’ll be able to watch here.

Hoya Robotics team 4152 also started teams in Bracebridge and Gravenhurst who will be competing as well.

March 25-26 Hoya Robotics will compete at Nipissing University in North Bay. Depending on how they rank they hope to qualify for the provincial competition and hopefully the world championships in Texas.

Stay tuned for more.

Great to hear other teachers have been inspired by Ian McTavish’s work and leadership to give kids opportunities to express and apply themselves at other schools. Positive stuff for curious and energetic youth. Bravo, all.
