House arrest for speeding away from R.I.D.E. program

A Huntsville driver who stopped short of a R.I.D.E. program and decided to go the other way had to explain himself in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.

Trevor Lee, 37, recently pled guilty to impaired driving stemming from an Aug. 16, 2022 incident.

Court heard that on that day at roughly 1 a.m., the Huntsville OPP had set up a R.I.D.E. program on Main Street West. They observed a vehicle approach the check before reversing into a driveway and driving away at a high rate of speed.

The OPP pursued the vehicle and caught up with Lee, as he pulled into a nearby motel parking lot and got out of his vehicle.

The officer smelled alcohol and subsequent tests revealed alcohol readings of 160 mg per 180 ml of blood, twice the legal limit.

Court heard that this was not Lee’s first conviction for impaired driving.

He was sentenced to 45 days of house arrest and a driving ban.
