Together at Christmas ~ A special holiday concert
Sunday, December 10, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Trinity United Church
If you’re looking for a pleasant Sunday afternoon, join the Muskoka Concert Band for its “Together at Christmas” concert, featuring special guests The Loft Singers, under the direction of Sherisse Stevens. Muskoka Concert Band conductor Neil Barlow will present a program including holiday favourites like White Christmas, Gesu Bambino, The Christmas Song, March of the Toys and many more. Admission is by donation. Be sure to allow a little extra time afterward to mingle and enjoy Christmas cookies!

Huntsville Community Choir “All is Calm, All is Bright”
Sunday, December 10, 3:00 p.m., St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
The Huntsville Community Choir is presenting their Christmas Concert, “All is Calm, All is Bright”. Tickets at Treasures and Trophies and at the door: Adults $20, Students $15, children free.

Christmas Gift Crafting at Huntsville Public Library
December 14, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The lovely Mary Spring and Teri Howell have partnered with Huntsville Public Library once again to offer a Christmas Gift Making workshop for adults. Create your own hand-sewed Christmas Gifts. There is no charge for the program; materials are provided and sewing machines are available for use. You could create a a Christmas stocking, some place mats, a small zippered bag, a purse or a pillow case. No registration required. Drop in all day to create something special.

Relish & Whisky Magazine’s Muskoka Tasting, hosted by Algonquin Outfitters and Hidden Valley Resort
December 15, 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Tickets: $75
An intimate evening showcasing some of your favorite Scotch, Whisky, Cocktails and Food in the great Canadian North. Enjoy a selection of over 30 spirits paired with Chef Ashley Stenabaugh’s fine selection of hors d’oeuvres. Featuring special guest speaker, author Kevin Callan, who will be sharing his amazing paddling adventure down Scotland’s Spey River where he stopped now and then, between running rapids and camping out below the snow-capped mountains, for a wee dram of whisky at some of the local distilleries. A free Christmas Concert presented by the Huntsville Suzuki School of Music, featuring an afternoon of uplifting music on strings, followed by refreshments. Admission is free; donations gratefully accepted.

Pet Portraits with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Huntsville Place Mall
Sunday, December 17, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Bring your furry friends for a visit and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. But remember to respect shoppers and store staff and keep your dogs on leashes and your cats and other pets in carriers until its their turn to visit Santa. The ‘no pets’ rule at the mall is still in effect, so be sure to take your critters directly to Claus Cottage beside Winners and then back to your vehicle when you’re done.

Portage Flyer Christmas
Saturday, December 23, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (last train leaves at 7:30 p.m.)
Rotary Village Train Station at Muskoka Heritage Place (100 Forbes Hill Drive, beside the Active Living Centre)
A Portage Flyer Christmas is what we like to call a “supermagicated” event that has become a tradition among families looking to spend some great quality time in the fresh air and surrounded by holiday spirit. Arrive and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies (while supplies last) and purchase your tickets before boarding the Portage Flyer Christmas Train Ride — Santa will be waiting at the end of the line to hear your side of the story. Tickets $5.00 per person (child or adult) tax included. There are no advance ticket sales or reserve seating.

Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade
Sunday, December 24, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
An annual family-friendly favorite, the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade can be viewed from the Chalet or the base of the Flying Dutchman at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area. Watch the Snow School instructors and Ski Patrollers descend the Flying Dutchman carrying brightly lit torches in a beautiful procession of lights. Santa even joins in the parade (you didn’t know he could ski, did you?). Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies available in the Chalet from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Tobin Spring will be playing playing acoustic guitar from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Note: there is no night skiing available on Christmas Eve.)

Join the staff at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area for family-friendly New Year’s Eve fireworks. Enjoy live music from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with fireworks at 6:00 p.m. Free cookies and hot chocolate starting at 5:00 p.m. Bar closes at 8:00 p.m.

    I totally agree with Karen. It would be wonderful to have a monthly calendar or even more often with what’s happening in Huntsville and area. We have so many wonderful things happening and often we find out about them too late or after the fact.

    There is a real need for a place to post all of Huntsville’s monthly happenings throughout the year.
