Lunch and after hours networking sessions connect local businesses

Business owners and professionals looking for networking opportunities in Huntsville have at least two opportunities per month to meet and mingle.

The Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce (HLOBCC) co-ordinates Business at Lunch Time and Business After Hours sessions in conjunction with local businesses to offer an opportunity to learn more about the business community in Huntsville. They usually include a light lunch or evening appetizers and fun door prizes.

October’s Business at Lunch Time was co-hosted by Chartwell Muskoka Traditions Retirement Residence and Huntsville Doppler, in celebration of Doppler’s first anniversary. Last month’s Business After Hours was held at Scotiabank with co-host Farmer’s Daughter to introduce the bank’s new manager, Scott Mullen.

“As a host, it’s a great opportunity to get people into your business who have never been in your storefront before,” says Jennifer Jerrett, Sales Consultant with Chartwell, who co-hosted the October Business at Lunch Time. “Whether you are a retirement residence or a lighting company or a bank, it’s an opportunity to engage your audience and educate them about what your products and services are.”

If you don’t have a storefront, there’s also opportunity to partner with another business to co-host an event.

And there are advantages to being an attendee, too. “You have the opportunity to network with a great group of like-minded individuals who are want to think outside the box, expand their network and grow their business,” says Jerrett.

The sessions are open to Chamber members but HLOBCC Executive Director Kelly Haywood invites non-members to register for a meeting to see what they’re all about.

“They’re a great opportunity to introduce you and your business to other professionals in the community,” says Haywood.

The November Business at Lunch Time will be held at The Garage on Thursday, November 10 from 11:30-1:30 p.m. This month’s Business After Hours is the popular Christmas-themed event at Hidden Valley Resort on November 17 at 5:30 p.m., with unwrapped toy donations being accepted for the Salvation Army Christmas Toy Drive. RSVP for either event at [email protected].
