HHS Badminton teams poised for strong finish at MPS

The Huntsville High School badminton schedule is well underway and is once again shaping up to be an exciting season on the courts. Consistent with previous years, HHS looks to field competitive boys, girls and doubles teams at the junior and senior levels. The first senior exhibition tournament came the week before March break, with the first junior tournament held the following Wednesday at HHS.

Results for the Huntsville contingent from the junior exhibition tournament were as follows:

Boys Singles
Tennyson Roberts 2-6
Joey Walsh 4-4

Girls Singles

Alicia McLinden 6-1

Boys Doubles
Matt Schmanda/Tyler Blair 8-0

Mixed Doubles
Josh Martin/Abby Fawcett 3-4

The tournament ran from 9am – 2:30pm, with Almaguin, St. Dominic’s, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Parry Sound all sending teams to compete with Huntsville. Play was competitive and fair with no issues or problems that came up regarding rules or sportsmanship, and a total of 42 “teams” present (a team would be either a double pairing or a singles player). All players took part in 6-8 games.
