Help Griffin and Sofia reach $10,000 raised for SickKids at this weekend’s lemonade stand

In five years, siblings Griffin and Sofia Graham have raised $8,105 for SickKids hospital in Toronto. The young philanthropists are hoping to top a total of $10,000 this year.

As they’ve done for the last five years, the pair will set up a lemonade stand in front of the Huntsville Home Hardware store on Cann Street, where there tangy-sweet lemonade and delicious cookies can be had for a donation to the cause. There will also be a charity BBQ, also by donation, behind the store if you want to make a meal out of your visit.

Their parents, Christine Barkey and Mike Graham, have owned the Huntsville Home Hardware store for the past six years. Both the couple and the company are avid supporters of SickKids and when Griffin, now 9, learned about it at the tender age of four, he wanted to help out, too. Sofia, 6, who was just a baby when the first fundraiser was held, joined her big brother at the lemonade stand in 2017.

Griffin was recognized last year for his efforts at the Muskoka Community Foundation’s Smart and Caring Muskoka Celebration.

As has happened in past years, people who won’t be able to get to the fundraiser have already been stopping in to the store to make donations, says Mike. And that’s helping to ramp up the anticipation for two already-eager kids.

“They’re excited,” says Mike. “They look forward to it every year.”

Stop by Huntsville Home Hardware (2 Cann Street) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 for a sweet treat for a good cause.
