Golf Fore the Girls raises awareness and funds for breast health

The 11th annual Golf Fore the Girls tournament kicked off at Deerhurst Resort this morning to raise funds and awareness for breast health. Proceeds are donated to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation in support of the mammography department at Huntsville Hospital.

The costumes the golfers wear are a highlight of the tournament, with many returning year after year with clever puns about breast health. A group of gondoliers advised women to ‘Ve-nice to y-oar bambine’ while a pink-clad biker gang wanted everyone to ‘check your headlights’. A poncho-clad team wanted to ‘ponch out breast cancer’ while a small coven of witches were ‘brewing up a cure’.

Their carts didn’t escape decoration, either, and during morning announcements, Deerhurst Resort unveiled two new pink golf carts and said it would donate a portion of rental costs to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
