It’s easier to navigate, information is easier to find, and registering for leisure programs online is a breeze. The Town of Huntsville launched a new website in November 2018 and staff encourage everyone to see what’s there.
“We really want people to visit and explore the site,” says Cara-Dawn Gilchrist, the Town’s Website Information Coordinator. “We worked hard to make the site user friendly, and it’s now mobile friendly and responsive.” You can find most information in one or two clicks now and a robust search tool will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
One of the reasons many people visit the Town site for the first time is to register for leisure programs. You can easily access information on all of the programs offered, with some of the most popular links—like public skating, swimming, and drop-in programs—accessible with a single click.
A new facilities module highlights the many public and rental facilities offered by the Town. Did you know that there are 13 different public beaches in the Huntsville area that are free to use? Or that there are 27 public parks? Or that Huntsville has three different community halls available for rent for events like weddings or reunions?

Like learning and experiencing new things? Check out Huntsville’s arts, culture, and heritage on the Culture and Events page. Explore upcoming local events at the Algonquin Theatre, Muskoka Heritage Place, and Huntsville Public Library or discover community partner event calendars for the Downtown Huntsville BIA and the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce. “When our community and visitors want to know ‘What’s happening in Huntsville today?’, we want to provide the full picture,” says Gilchrist. “That’s all a part of the ‘visit Huntsville’ experience.”
And you’ll find information on bylaws, building permits, dog licenses, road maintenance and Town Council, too.
“Part of our strategic plan is a commitment to improve access to, quality of, and the timeliness of information for Huntsville’s residents,” says Lisa Spolnik, the Town’s Manager of Marketing.
And that means they aren’t done yet. A community engagement platform is in the works, where residents can go online 24/7 to find information about upcoming Town projects and provide opinions and feedback. They are also exploring online payments for various services to make it easier for residents to do business with the Town.
