Playoffs have begun for the minor Huntsville Otters teams. Saturday, February 10, 2018 brought five Otters teams out to compete in their playoff round in their home town. The Jack Bionda and Don Lough arenas at the Summit Centre were the place to be for Otters families, friends and fans.
The Aquadome Novice Rep Otters played against the Parry Sound Shamrocks in the Jack Bionda Arena. They owned the ice winning 6-0. They travelled to Parry Sound on Sunday, February 11 to fight for another win and accomplished just that winning 4-3. Next home games for Novice Rep are February 23 at 6:40 p.m. and February 24 at 1:40 p.m. in the Jack Bionda Arena.
The Little Caesars Atom AE Otters met the Shelburne AE Wolves in the Jack Bionda Arena. The Wolves beat the Otters stealing the win 0-5. In their away game on Sunday, February 11, the Otters could not get the puck past the defense and lost 1-7. Their next home game was also a loss at 2-4 for the Wolves, but not without a fight.
The Landmark Pee Wee Rep Otters were on the ice with the Collingwood Blackhawks in the Don Lough Arena where the Otters doubled the goals of their opponents to win 4-2. On Sunday, February 11, the Pee Wee Rep Otters were one of three teams in Collingwood. The result was the opposite of their previous game with a loss 2-4. On Saturday, February 17, the Otters were back at home but weren’t able to use home ice advantage to hold off the Blackhawks, losing 1-5. They meet up again on February 18 in Collingwood.
The Tawingo Bantam Rep Otters played against the Collingwood Blackhawks in the Don Lough Arena following the Pee Wee team to also take the win with a score of 3-1. For their away game in Collingwood on Sunday February 11, the Otters crushed the Blackhawks by stealing the win 6-1. They fell to the Blackhawks in a 3-4 loss at home on February 17 but will try to get back to the win on February 18 in Collingwood.
The MBRP Major Midget Otters had their game faces on when they met the Collingwood Blackhawks in the Don Lough Arena on February 10. The game ended in favour of the Otters with a win by one goal, 3-2. It was a close game on Sunday, February 11, too, as the team travelled to Collingwood and lost by one goal to the Blackhawks 2-3. They weren’t able to hold off the Blackhawks at home on February 17, resulting in a 2-4 loss. They’ll try to tie up the series on February 18 in Collingwood.
