Environment Canada issues a special weather statement

Heavy rain tonight into Saturday.

Hazard:
Rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm.

Timing:
tonight into Saturday morning.

Discussion:
Two weather systems will affect the area over the next two days. The first will move through today bringing some snow. The snow will then change to rain this afternoon or evening and become heavy overnight as a second and much stronger system begins to move in. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

There remains some uncertainty at this point to the placement of the heaviest rainfall. Rainfall warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
